Jennifer and Jason's Wedding at the Saguaro and the Clayton on the Park, Scottsdale, AZ

Jennifer and Jason's wedding at the Clayton on the Park started out our fall wedding season this year, and boy was it one to remember! The day began with record rainfall, flooding, and tree-snapping winds, but nothing could stop these two from getting married!

Jennifer got ready with her mother, daughter, and bridesmaids in the colorful and vibrant surroundings of the Saguaro Scottsdale hotel.

Jennifer tells us how it all came together below.

How Jennifer selected her dress and attire: "I had been stalking j.crew wedding dresses for years.  I love the simplicity.  I wanted something that was classic and minimalistic.  And it had pockets!  I wore purple shoes and my mom’s pearls."

Jennifer describes the flowers and her special bouquet: "Our florist used our photo inspiration and she created custom centerpieces that were stunning.  Again, a simple and minimalist look.  A lot of different purples shades.  My dad passed away a few months before the wedding so I wanted to incorporate his memory to our wedding.  He was a pro-golfer, it was his passion, so the florist added golf tees to my bouquet and my mom’s corsage so that he was there with us.  It was really special."

"The groom and groomsmen wore Banana Republic suits.  The bridesmaids dresses had pockets too!"

How Jennifer and Jason first met: Jennifer was running with a friend who told her about a hiking trip she was going on to Havasupai Falls.  Jennifer told her how she’d been wanting to do that, so her friend asked her friend organizing it to add Jennifer to the group.  Jason was the organizer!  So they met at a Havasupai Happy Hour planning meeting and by the time the trip came around they had been dating for a couple of months.

The biggest surprise of the wedding day according to Jennifer: "Well, we knew there was rain in the forecast, but it was more like a hurricane came through!  It was crazy with flooding and trees down everywhere.  It really added to the excitement."

How the proposal occurred: The year after the first Havasupai trip, Jennifer and Jason went back again and Jason popped the question as they were descending Mooney Falls. Hanging onto chains on the side of a 200-foot cliff, they were both shaking!  It was amazing!

"The cake was vegan and we had another small cake that was gluten-free.  Both were vanilla bean with raspberry.  No one could believe it was vegan!"

Jennifer describes the colors and style of the wedding: "We didn’t really have a theme, but knew we wanted it to be simple and not too flashy or over the top.  Purple is both of our favorite color and since the wedding was technically in Fall, but still hot in Arizona, grey was a good choice to go with it so it didn’t get too dark and wintery looking."

The most special moments of the wedding day, according to Jennifer: "My mom walking me down the aisle, the amazing storm clouds and sunset, the rain letting up so we could take photos in the park, and just feeling the love from all of our family and friends who braved the storm to be there with us."
